On February 14th and 15th, 2025, hundreds of residents in Owerri, Imo State, received free medical consultations, free treatment,  reading glasses, and humanitarian food support — all at no cost — at a two-day outreach hosted by the Sprinkle Life of Hope Initiative.

OWERRI, IMO STATE, NIGERIA — February 16, 2025

In a season often associated with love and giving, the Sprinkle Life of Hope Initiative chose to demonstrate both in the most practical and impactful way possible. On the 14th and 15th of February, 2025 — Valentine’s weekend — the Initiative opened its doors at No. 4 Archdeacon Denis Street, Ikenegbu Layout, Owerri, Imo State, and welcomed hundreds of community members for a comprehensive, two-day free medical outreach.

Organised under the leadership of Dr. Ugorji Chinedu, Medical Director and Chief Executive Officer, the outreach brought together a dedicated team of medical professionals, volunteers, and community partners — all united by a single mission: to deliver quality healthcare, practical support, and renewed hope to those who need it most, free of charge.

Free Medical Care — Open to All

Across both days, qualified medical personnel provided thorough pre-medical consultations, general medical examinations, and free treatment to all attendees. The doors were open to everyone — the elderly, mothers and young children, youth, and adults of all ages — with no payment required and no documentation demanded.

Patients presenting with a range of health concerns were assessed and treated promptly. Many who had delayed seeking care due to financial constraints were finally able to receive the attention they needed. The medical team worked steadily through both days, ensuring each patient received not just a prescription, but personal attention and dignified care.

“We believe that love is not only expressed in words. Real love shows up. It rolls up its sleeves and does the work. This outreach is our own Valentine — given not to one person, but to a community.”

— Dr. Ugorji Chinedu, Medical Director & CEO, Sprinkle Life of Hope Initiative

Reading Glasses — Restoring Sight, Restoring Dignity

One of the most celebrated aspects of the outreach was the distribution of specially treated reading glasses to elderly members of the community. Many recipients had been struggling with failing eyesight for years — unable to read clearly, unable to engage with printed Scripture, correspondence, or daily written material — yet with no means to access affordable optical care.

At the glasses distribution station, volunteers patiently helped each elderly recipient try on and select an appropriate pair. The transformation in many faces was immediate and profound. Several beneficiaries openly wept with relief and gratitude as they held up texts and realised, for the first time in a long while, that they could read the words clearly.

For a number of elderly men and women in attendance, the reading glasses meant something far greater than corrected vision — they meant the ability to read their Bibles independently again, to engage with faith on their own terms, and to reclaim a piece of everyday life that poor eyesight had quietly taken from them.

“I have not been able to read my Bible properly for two years. Two years. Today I put on these glasses and I read for myself. I did not need anyone to read for me. God bless these people.”

— Elderly Beneficiary, Owerri Community

A Community Responds with Gratitude

The outreach drew strong attendance from across Owerri and surrounding communities. Churches mobilised their members, spreading word of the event through announcements, prayer meetings, and personal contact. Families arrived together. Community and religious leaders came to observe and participate. The atmosphere across both days was described by many attendees as one of warmth, orderliness, and genuine human connection.

Volunteers — including young people who gave their time freely — played an essential role in managing patient flow, distributing glasses and food items, and ensuring every person in attendance felt welcomed and valued. Their dedication was a visible expression of the Initiative’s ethos: that service to others is both a calling and a privilege.

The success of the February 2025 outreach has further established the Sprinkle Life of Hope Initiative as a consistent and trusted voice for community health and welfare in Imo State — and a model of what faith-driven humanitarian action can achieve when compassion meets commitment.
